A CHRISTMAS TAIL

Once upon a time ... well in 1994 actually, just before Christmas, Dave came up with an idea for a seasonal song about Santa. It started with one line : "Mary's gone and left me for the man from Toys R Us". (How does his mind work? Don't ask.) That became "Mary Christmas", our "Christmas hit" for that year.

The following year we expanded the story by adding five more songs, and we had a mini-pantomime, which had its first performance at Biddulph Folk Club, North Staffordshire.

Over the years the show has grown and (hopefully!) improved, and we have taken it out to many appreciative audiences in folk clubs and other venues.

In 1998 we did a full costume version at Stoke Repertory Theatre with our old mate Pete Hall (of Cornfield Perambulation and Muggins Fancy)

The following year we did another full-dress version at the Daneside Theatre, Congleton. (Jeff: Why do I always get to be the fairy? ... Dave: Because I write the words.)

We have since done the show at many folk clubs and several festivals ...
