"St. Derella's" first appeared at our home club Biddulph Folk Club at Christmas 2000. It is a "pantomime for
groan-ups" based (loosely) on Cinderella and set in a hospital (St. Derella's A & E).
The main characters are:
... Nurse Cindy (played by guess who?), Sister Ugly (type-casting some might say) and Vince Charming (never seen but
crucial to the plot - at least a certain part of his anatomy is ...)
At Biddulph the show was enlivened by Cate Edbury's hilarious performance in the role (which she largely
wrote herself) of the hospital "tannoy".
At Upton Festival in 2003 we introduced the "naughty nurses" (Liz Holland and Michelle Rockliffe) to distribute a
certain crucial item of surgical equipment.
For some reason this was very popular with the male members of the audience.
We have also done St. Derella's at Four Fools Festival ...
... where those aforementioned items of surgical equipment found a new home.
